If After Effects keeps crashing when you are trying to render a video then it may be helpful to set it to purge after every X number of frames while rendering. To do this just go to edit and the hold shift and click on preferences keep holding shift down and click on any one of the preferences general, etc. Then click the down arrow to bring up the list of preferences, and at the very bottom there will be an option called secret preferences and once you go there you can turn on the purge after every X number of frames. So this is useful if AE is crashing after every 60 or so frames just set the option to purge after every 50 frames or so, and most of the time that will keep it from crashing. Hope this helps anyone having this problem.
